Hastings Museum Field Trip!
The students were so excited to go on our field trip to the Hastings Museum! We started out the day watching a show at the planetarium called "Rusty Rocket." It explained the 8 planets in detail as well as the importance of the sun. We had a guided tour called "Out of this World", which demonstrated how the Earth rotates around the sun and tilts as it rotates. She told about how we have different seasons and what causes day and night. We went back to the planetarium where she explained how to find the Big and Little Dipper in the sky. Lunch was held at the park by the museum. The cafeteria did a good job in providing enough food for all of us. We returned to the museum for another guided tour entitled "Growing Up Pawnee." Our tour guide showed us how the Pawnee Indian survived on the bison as well as the homes that they constructed. The children ground corn into powder, played a hoop game, and made an Pawnee toy spin. They also made and played with a game including 6 tiles. Finally, the students watched a 3D show called "Animal Kingdom!" They are tired, but they had so much fun today!
